CloudKid Presents updog - sonata
updog’s influence on his next track ‘sonata‘ is as blatant as it gets. It’s a fun, quirky, playful love song that very much allows for the artist and songwriter’s Greek heritage to shine, the most apparent by the song’s finale, of which emerges an upbeat opportunity for any listener to Sirtaki dance along to its every beat.
updog says, “This is a straight up love song, the most obvious one I’ve written so far. It’s about the love I have for my wife, and it follows the story about how — and where — we fell in love, how it has grown and changed in each city. It’s called ‘sonata,’ because it follows a type of song structure that has many different movements and changes, just like our love. We’ve moved quite a few times, and we’ve been together since we were teenagers. Uniquely, by the song’s end, it breaks into a classic Greek style dance, where the instrumental starts slow and keeps building up in speed. I really had fun putting in parts of my upbringing and identity into the song. Sonically, it’s a way to showcase our love and how it keeps getting stronger every day.”
»It's a sonic representation of our love.«
