CloudKid Presents updog - skellies EP

The wait is finally over for updog fans with the release of his ‘skellies‘ EP! updog’s latest finds him at his weirdest and wackiest yet, as he navigates trying not to take himself as seriously as he has done in the past. With this EP, the artist is ready to show listeners who he is, not just through his quirky beats and lyrics alone, but who he is physically, another opportunity to make himself — as an actual person — a core part of the story behind the music. Moving to a new country, working in a proper studio and being in the same room with a producer for the first time also influenced the way updog went about the writing process with these set of songs.

He says, “you’ll notice there are no actual drops in this EP. I focused a lot more on writing choruses and melodies instead. Also putting myself in a happier place in general helped me move from my usual sad and depressing songs and helped me find some brighter, more positive melodies and ideas.” With that, comes the accompanying single to the EP, ‘rather just go home,’  presented through another set of self-explanatory, honest and self-reflective lyrics. “I’m pretty good at being around people and being social, but theres nothing I love more than just being at home. We all know that sometimes it’s tiring having to put up an act when you’re around other people.”

»It’s tiring having to put up an act when you’re around other people.«

updog’s path to reinvention has taken a brave new road, with many twists, turns, silly lyrics, playful melodies and a departure from his rocktronic sound into a more alt-pop direction. This is him as he has ever been, even as he maneuvers between genres, incorporating voice-acting and other music-bending sensibilities on his third EP. Already orbited and continuously recognized by Spotify Editorial, leading YouTube music curators (MrSuicideSheep, xKito, Nightblue), as well as features on Hilly Dilly, Magnetic Mag and CULTR – it’s safe to say that updog will continue to keep us intrigued by his ever-evolving stories and sound. ‘skellies,‘ the EP, is out now!
