CloudKid Presents updog - skellies

updog continues to build upon his new-found musical DNA with his latest single ‘Skellies’ – the lead single to his equally-titled 3rd EP ‘skellies’ (out October 1st). Reaching deep into his alt-pop bones, the Danish-based songwriter delivers his most upbeat and catchy single to date. It’s quirky and it’s unapologetic… a premeditated musical decision by the artist to channel his real-self into the music some more, all while having a bit of fun with it.

He explains the core importance of skellies for the EP: ‘Skellies’ set the foundation for the overall theme of this EP. It’s inspired by one of my personal worst periods. A time in my life where I was the most self conscious and struggled to ever be real and honest about anything. ‘Mama said I’m keeping the deposit’ as true as that statement and excitement was back then, for me represents the need to always seek approval. ‘Mama’ is an overused word throughout the EP, and represents my youthfulness but also fear of being real.

»‘Mama’ is an overused word throughout the EP, and represents my youthfulness but also fear of being real.«

As an artist that has been releasing countless singles and 2 meticulous EP’s in the space of two years – thereby building a solid sound and fanbase – going for the reinvention route is a brave road to take. However updog has never been about a genre, nor popularity. The recurring theme since the inception of the project has always been honesty… and this is as honest as it’s ever been. This is as updog as it’s ever been. Already orbited and continuously recognised by Spotify Editorial, leading YouTube music curators (MrSuicideSheep, xKito, Nightblue), as well as features on Hilly Dilly, Magnetic Mag and CULTR – it’s fair to say that the music continues to keep us absorbed in his enchanting artistic journey.
