‘saw a ghost’ is a song any listener can relate to, as it tells the tale of one night on the couch, watching a scary film, with some popcorn to accompany the evening. With its quirky lyrics and bright melody, despite the song’s fearful meaning and accompanying story, it still feels cozy and uplifting, the general essence updog aimed to portray on his latest EP released last month entitled ‘skellies.’ This time, however, updog thought it’d be fun idea to get a ghouly, ghostly creature to add onto the excitement of the track, asking none other than his other-worldly friend and ongoing collaborator, Crypto.
Together, both artists create an alt-pop, electronic hodge-podge of beats and vibes, steady and uplifting with updog’s lyrics and melody, yet, brash and bold in production, as usual in Crypto fashion. Already quirky and bright, Crypto adds an intensity that was needed on the song. updog says, “This is definitely one of my sillier and less serious tracks, but when I sent it to Crypto, they told me they wanted to make it even more bubbly and extraterrestrial. The drop definitely took it there. Actually during it all, I figured I could actually rename the song to ‘saw an alien’?’
