CloudKid Presents updog - (p)uppy love EP

updog’s love journey ends here, even if the artist has a bunch more love to share. On the finale that is (p)uppy love, the artists’ fifth EP to date with CloudKid, the singer-songwriter challenged himself to go down the road less travelled for his artistry, tapping into more sentimental and emotional music that wasn’t so introspective and unhappy, but rather the opposite. Though there are moments in the music that remind listeners this is just another side to their favorite emo artist, a slight break in the rhythm was exactly what he needed, especially for what’s to come next for updog.

He says, “This EP was my love letter to my wife. updog has always tapped in a bit more to self discovery, introspectiveness, sadness, and sometimes straight up silliness. I wanted to do something different this time. The EP got its name because I decided to adopt this persona who I like to call ‘uppy.’ A more chill kinda guy, who doesn’t take things too seriously. You can hear this in my lyrics a lot; I’m making up words and just being playful, having fun, being in love. I had a ton of fun writing all of the songs on this and learned so much about my vocals, lyricism and artistry.”

»I'm making up words and just being playful, having fun...«

Steadily racing through his brand new world, updog’s latest musical work tackles how he’s been approaching being on such a high road. The end of his last EP marked a break between his “emo” eras, with listeners hearing less serious narratives, and more personal moments in real time, rather than at the meta level. With this new EP, updog asks listeners to follow his life, through story and sound as it is now, following some of his mundane moments, including the lovey-dovey ones, making them into grandiose storytelling for the masses. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve to come next! (p)uppy love, out NOW!
