CloudKid Presents updog - Kerosene Hearts EP
updog’s final track of his Kerosene Hearts EP, ‘caveat emptor’, meaning, “let the buyer beware,” has arrived! This last song showcases the final stage of a breakup; in this case, the narrator starts to accept their fate and attempts to move on from a broken relationship. Sonically, the song is an alternative, sad pop, Labrinth-esque, emotional ballad that reflects the nature and narrative of the melancholic tune.
updog says of the song, “The two people involved in the relationship finally learn from their experience by the time this song rolls around. They also realize that they are responsible for the damage they are going through. They should have seen the red flags early on and not have idealized the relationship in the way they did. The lyrics are introspective and thoughtful, describing how the main narrator is able to finally reflect on his past mistakes in an encouraging attempt to learn from them. It’s a hopeful, bittersweet end to the EP.”
