CloudKid Presents Bentez - Good Manners
Bentez is back with her next track on CloudKid, ‘Good Manners,‘ a rock-influenced, edgy pop song about the frustrating feeling of having to have an answer on hand to any question or request that’s asked, but never knowing what to say or how to say it.
Yana, aka Bentez, continues of the song, “There is always an internal fear of saying the wrong thing. And questioning what people might think of us, which is what often stops us from being our unapologetic, authentic selves. In the pursuit of others’ approval of our actions and decisions, we betray our own needs and desires, finding ourselves living by someone else’s rules. Writing ‘Good Manners‘ was my way of taking my power back. I would often second guess myself, or stop myself from saying or doing something simply out of fear of how it will be perceived. I’m sure we’ve all felt like we have to conform, more or less, to what is societally considered right or wrong, forgetting who we are and what we actually want in the process of doing so. With this song, I wanted to remind myself — and others — that the validation we should be seeking and the one that truly matters at the end of the day is our own. Whether being silent or too loud, we will always be judged for something, so might as well do what we want.”
»...we'll always be judged for something, so might as well do what we want.«
Bentez is a Berlin-based artist and songwriter with an affinity for dark pop and alternative artistic expressions. Her lyricism is witty and unfiltered, touching on subjects such as troubled love, the ego, self-destructive behavior, and other topics that are considered uncomfortable. Inspired by the 2000s pop era, modern electronic productions and artists like Justin Timberlake, RAYE, and Billie Eilish, the young artist creates a distinctive soundscape, that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster through anger, melancholy, and acceptance.
