CloudKid Presents St. Mary - FIRE TO THE BLOCK (feat. Reo Cragun)
We welcome Cyprus-born, Los Angeles based artist and producer, St. Mary, to the CloudKid family! On her track with the label, ‘FIRE TO THE BLOCK,’ she teams up with indie rapper, Reo Cragun, and offers an anthemic track with euphoric drops, yet an underlying feeling of rage. Electric guitars and glass break sounds are also embedded into her production that aided her in externalizing those feelings, but sonically. Bold and fulfilling, the track also holds combined elements of various genres, including rap, pop, trap and electronic, specifically future bass.
St. Mary says, “While this song can get emotional with hints of nostalgia, it’s also uplifting and empowering, making me want to listen to it while on the road with the windows down singing at top of my lungs. The song is the place where the feelings of euphoria and rage meet. It’s about that abrupt moment of emotional outburst – a time when all the disappointment you felt and overlook you got from people climaxed and then finally set free, hence the bittersweet undertone throughout the song that you can hear. Producing this track felt like that outburst to me and I really wanted to convey that feeling to my listeners which is how the ‘bigger-than-life’ instrumental breaks came in. From the lyrics, vocal delivery to every production decision, it’s telling a bittersweet story of finally letting go of what holds you back and finding the strength to grow away from the people who were dragging you down.”

St. Mary views music-making as her very own personal ritual. Her true identity as an artist sees her production combining dark melodicism with sub-rattling bass, often accompanied by vocals; a distinct sound of her own, best described as “trap through cinematic lenses.” Defying genre confines, her sound mixes elements of bass, trap and future bass. Even this early in her career, St. Mary is showing no signs of stopping to work hard. The LA-based artist has amassed over a million streams across platforms on her second single ‘Blind,’ which followed with label releases on UMG Japan, now CloudKid, among others. St. Mary has released three music videos so far with another one up her sleeve, each in line with the dark aesthetic of the her core brand. She has been visibly visually inspired by horror films — something that dominates the world she is creating around her music, of which has carried onto her live performances as well, of which include support for DJs such as MEMBA and YehME2. She is now working on her first EP ‘AMEN’ to tentatively be released in early 2023.
