CloudKid Presents Paper Idol - CNTRL

As a follow-up release to his first track this year — ‘Sidewalk,’ — Paper Idol’s next single off his 8-track EP, out in November, ‘CNTRL‘ equally boasts an energetic, fun, mood-boosting, and confident sentiment, moving his story along that follows an EP all about growing up. Inspired by the likes of artists such as NVDES, Royal & The Serpent, and grandson on this release, Paper Idol combines his indie, dance, pop and rock sensibilities as an artist AND producer, with his witty lyricism that continues the children’s tale, with one of the main characters, the rebel of the group, sharing his desire to be, as the song suggests, out of control.

Paper Idol says, “The final version of this song is actually the day-one demo — untouched. I wrote and produced the track in a singular, frantic, 4-hour session in the studio. It was just pure adrenalin put into song form, which I guess you can hear in the musicality of it. As I’ve mentioned, this EP represents different phases of childhood and growing up, and ‘CNTRL‘ is about being a teenager — you know, when you find yourself in that adolescent phase — having that amazing, reckless energy and trying to figure out what to do with it all.”

Paper Idol – real name Matan KG – describes his music as “delusional pop.” True, his songs weave between dance music and alternative into “something unique and utterly disarming” (Beats per Minute), with storytelling that blurs the line between reality and fantasy, optimism and delusion. After graduating from university with a Neuroscience degree, Matan left his medical-school ambitions behind to pursue music in LA.
