Starting off with a strong electro-pop production, with subtle indie influences, K Theory and Staarz team up to release their rendition of ‘Black Out Days‘ by Phantogram. The song starts strong, building up during the verses, of which then results in an epic electronic drum & bass drop section that also features a chanty chorus. The song is meant to take listeners on a journey from a more calm, subdued angle to a high energy peak, then back down to a calm resolve that will have anyone feeling soothed, after such intensity mid song.
K Theory says of the song, “I really loved the original song, so when Staarz presented me the cover vocals earlier this year, I knew we had to do our own version. Originally, I was planning on doing a bass version, but it ended up becoming an epic drum & bass one. I’m quite stoked for this re-imagination! I didn’t write the lyrics obviously, but to me, narratively, it’s about personal transformation; of looking in a mirror and not recognizing oneself anymore and the emotional process of becoming a new person, letting go of the old you and hearing the voices of the past roaring in your mind, AND eventually overcoming that.”
