Ever come across an artist you just know it’s only a matter of time before they blow up? Well, the inventive, genre-blending newcomer – Boon – falls straight into that category. Kicking things off right away with his debut 5-track EP ‘16’, the Nashville native artist wastes no time in setting the tone for what he’s all about. ‘16’ marks the precise age at which Boon self-produced and released this introduction into the scene. Taking the artist approach of making listeners feel excited and refreshed by music, Boon set out to create the unexpected. With an underlying coat of dark and gritty pop, ‘16’ merges everything from blues, trap and EDM into his songs, to the point of immersing you into a listening experience beyond any other.
Talking about his focus single ‘100 Degrees’ and the whole EP, he explains: “The whole song is kind of like this internal dialogue with someone at a party. You haven’t actually said anything out loud, but there’s a connection. 100 Degrees is supposed to be the song you can crank in your car with friends and the windows down. It’s an outlier on the EP—it’s not as dark and broody—but the distorted 808s and heavy drums keep my signature sound present”.
